A Note from Upstate New York

I have not forgotten you, blog or gentle readers. My father has been ill, and I’ve been spending some time in upstate New York helping out.

It’s been difficult to write during this time, but I have been reading. On the recommendation of fellow writer Cindy Zelman, I have been poking around the essays collected in the Touchstone Anthology of Contemporary Creative Nonfiction. I’ve found some interesting nuggets in the anthology, from classics I’ve seen before to essays I hadn’t yet discovered. I’d recommend it for a surprisingly inexpensive anthology that provides a variety of different, interesting essays. I’m not sure I’ll love every piece in the book, but I’ve found some work that is inspiring (I always do).

I hope you are enjoying the holiday season.
