I haven’t been keeping up on this blog lately, but that could change soon. I have a busy writing year coming up in 2023.
First, the anthology I co-edited with Joan Schweighardt, The Art of Touch: A Collection of Prose and Poetry from the Pandemic and Beyond, will be out next fall from the University of Georgia Press. In addition to the stellar work of some powerhouse writers and professionals from other walks of life, the book includes one of my own new essays, “My Father’s Room.”
Then — and here’s the big news for today — I will have my own new book coming out also in the fall! I’m happy to announce that my new collection of 100-word stories — Soul to Soul: Tiny Stories of Hope and Resilience — will be published by Huntsville Press out of Alabama.

This new and exciting press is helmed by Joshua Adams. I just signed the contract, and I’m working on revisions now. I’m really thrilled to bring this book to the world. I wrote it because things are so tough for so many people and in so many arenas right now. I wanted to put something hopeful into people’s hands.
And if you’re looking for gifts for the little animal lovers in your life as the holiday season approaches, don’t forget The Stray Cat Stories — children from around the world have enjoyed learning about feral and stray cats from the books, and I donate a portion of all proceeds to non-profit animal rescue organizations. Below are the links on Amazon, but you can also buy these books at BN.com or support your local independent bookstore by walking in and asking them to order your copies from Ingram.

If literary creative nonfiction is more your thing, my memoir-in-essays is also available.
As always an online review (on Amazon, Goodreads, and BN.com) is deeply appreciated. Reviews help authors and books so much.
Thank you – and stay tuned for more as the weeks and months progress — I promise to be better about staying in touch!
