Writer Kelley Evans, who spearheaded one of the panels on essays at AWP, recently gave me this advice via Twitter (I’m @MassWriter on Twitter, by the way, and Kelly is @kel_w_evans):
“Just consider rejection as one step further to finding the audience best suited to your writing. And have a glass of wine.”
I actually think that’s a very good way to look at it, and I’m having a glass of wine right now. As I told Kelley, though, the way I’m going I might be an alcoholic by the time I find my audience.
