My newest fiction short story, “The Varmint,” has just been published in Editor Meg Tuite’s “Crazy Rabbit Review” column in the wonderful literary journal Connotation Press: An Online Artifact, along with an interview.
This story was inspired by a former neighbor who once told me he had a “varmint” in his yard. However, the details of the character’s lives and the events in the story are fiction. The neighbor passed away after I wrote the story, so I am glad I can honor him and help him be remembered in this way.
It means a lot to me to be published in Connotation Press alongside so many great writers. The editors are some of the most talented and supportive people I’ve met in the literary world — and really, in the world, period.
