Time is flying by as early September turns into mid-September. I’ve started teaching and am enjoying my classes and students — but life has become much busier. For the first few days of the semester, I was unable to stick to my early morning writing routine. This morning, thankfully, I returned to it. It can be a difficult juggling act with three balls constantly in the air: freelance work, teaching, writing.
I wanted to share a sneak peek of one of the amazing preliminary drawings that my friend, Laurel McKinstry Petersen, is doing for the children’s picture book we are working on together. I’m writing the text and Laurel is producing the illustrations. The book is based on the true story of “Little White,” a young feral cat that Jean-Paul and I took into our home.
Laurel and I were friends in high school, where we created our own band called “Banana Yogurt.” The story behind that name is for another time.
Here’s one of her illustrations for our book!
