Tomorrow at 9 a.m. EDT Buddhapuss Ink will unveil the cover of my forthcoming book, MESSAGE FROM A BLUE JAY. I will also post the cover here, and a number of friends and colleagues in the writing world will feature it on their blogs or websites.
It’s an emotional thing to see the cover of your book for the first time. So much hard work goes into producing a manuscript. You face so much rejection as you submit essays or stories to literary journals, and then again when you complete a book-length manuscript and begin sending it to agents or publishers. It takes a thick skin and a great deal of perseverance — at least for most of us — to get to the point where a publisher has accepted your book and is about to unveil the cover to the world for the first time.
I want to take this moment to thank everyone who helped me along the way: teachers, fellow MFA students, friends, and family. No woman is an island.
